Our Principles
We believe that creating beautiful, well-crafted items does not need to leave a large footprint on the planet. We do our best to make sure that our production and labor practices are ethical and sustainable.
Recycled Materials
Our blankets are made of recycled cotton blends. By using textile waste that would have otherwise gone to a landfill, we are reducing incinerator and landfill use.
Using recycled cotton compared to new cotton consumes less energy and resources in virtually every step of the production cycle. Because we do not employ new materials, there is no new land use; thus, we are not contributing to pollution with new fertilizers and pesticides, nor are we utilizing intensive water irrigation.
Our 50" x 60" knit blankets are made of OEKO-TEX Certified yarn.
Why do we use polyester?
Our cotton blends contain recycled PET/polyester, meaning no new plastics. We select these specific blends to achieve a long-lasting durability without sacrificing softness and comfort.
We also choose to use yarns that contain recycled PET/polyester rather than wool so that our products do not use animal fibers. It is important to us that our products are cruelty-free.
Organic Cotton
However, we understand that some of our customers prefer no synthetic materials in their blankets. We now also offer mini blankets in 100% OEKO-TEX certified organic cotton. Organic cotton uses fewer chemicals than conventionally harvested cotton as it is grown without chemical insecticides and chemical fertilizers. This is both healthier for the planet and for humans with less skin irritants and damage to our ecosystem. Although organic cotton uses more water in its production than its recycled counterpart, 80% of land under organic cotton is rainfed (according to the Textile Exchange). In addition, organic cotton can be recycled after its use as part of a closed loop production cycle.
Compostable, Carbon Neutral Packaging
Our blankets are packaged with FSC Certified tissue paper printed with soy inks. They arrive to you in compostable mailers, the use of which contribute to mangrove estuary regeneration (making them carbon negative). Our invoices are printed on tree-free paper, crafted from 100% sugarcane waste. We do our best to make sure your item arrives to you safely while leaving a minimal footprint on the earth.
Labor and Ethical Practices
Our products are designed by us and made in knitting mills in the USA. As our products are produced in the USA, we adhere to the Fair Labor and Standards Act.
Social Impact
We are proud to be a 100% AAPI and women-owned small business. Thank you for choosing to support us. At the end of every year, 2% of our profits will be donated to a charity of our choice.
